📋 Overview

潜心修佛 (Xiufo) is a Chrome browser extension designed to help users meditate, accumulate merit, and clear distracting thoughts. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

📦 Data Collection

The Extension does not collect any personally identifiable information, including but not limited to: name, email, address, or browsing history.

When you purchase a Golden Bell Shield, our payment server temporarily records the following data solely to prevent duplicate payments:

  • Device identifier (randomly generated by the extension; not tied to real identity)
  • IP address (for anti-fraud purposes only; overwritten within 24 hours)
  • Alipay trade number / PayPal Order ID (to verify payment uniqueness)
  • Payment amount and hours purchased (to verify payment amount consistency)

This data is stored only in our private self-hosted server database and is never sold or shared with third parties.

💾 Local Storage

The Extension uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to store the following meditation data locally on your device:

  • Accumulated meditation time (totalSeconds)
  • Woodfish knock count (muyuCount)
  • Donated merit time and woodfish counts
  • Current meditation state and Shield expiry time

All data is stored strictly on your local device and is never uploaded to any server. Uninstalling the extension permanently deletes all stored data.

💳 Payment Processing

Golden Bell Shield purchases are processed by the following third-party payment providers:

  • Chinese users: Alipay — Subject to Alibaba Group's Privacy Policy
  • English users: PayPal — Subject to PayPal's Privacy Policy

The Extension does not store your credit card numbers, bank credentials, or any payment credentials. All sensitive payment flows are handled exclusively by the above third-party platforms.

🔐 Permissions

The Extension requests only the following Chrome permissions:

  • storage: To persist your meditation progress locally on your device
  • alarms: To wake the background service worker every 10 seconds to accumulate time and trigger interference events
  • notifications: To send a desktop notification when your meditation is interrupted

The Extension requests no host permissions and cannot access or read any websites you visit.
